Sanda Langer

Mom

My mom is my inspiration for speed skating. She’s always there for me when I have to talk to her and when I need extra motivation. She’s there when I am going through up’s and down’s and she’s the reason I am able to live my dream. Without her I would not be in Calgary training.

Sanda was born in Romania and started skiing at a very young age. While pursuing that, she also enrolled in speed skating, with her sister. She became very good at it, and in 1986, at age 16 she won the overall Romanian National Champion title. More competitions were to come but with her parents being University teachers, didn’t allow her to continue with the sport since education was more important to them.

Sanda presently continues her involvement in speed skating as a part time coach, and my personal “down-to-Earth” bringer and supporter. Sanda is a successful personal trainer in the Toronto/Pickering area, and with an 18 year experience in translations she is definitely the most well-rounded successful and talented person I know.

Sport Chek and Brasoil have helped me out tremendously this season. Without both Sport Chek and Brasoil’s support I would definitely not be able to speed skate this season, from a financial point of view. My racing suit and new boots are the most important part of my equipment as our boots are custom made, and the suits need to be very aerodynamic.I am proud to be sponsored by such a great group of individuals, that have affected my life positively in such a great outstanding way. Thank you very much everyone at Brasoil and Sport Chek.I am also very thankful for the people that have organised my fundraisers this year and that are watching my practices and religiously watching my races and supporting me unconditionally (Donna, Tara, Lonnie, Reg, just to name a few). Thank you to everyone that has donated to support me this season. Without your help, I would not skate as fast as I am today.
